In marketing, the number 1 rule is know your audience.  This determines what type of ads to run and who to target, targeting the wrong people will have negative impacts on your results.

The US government is showing that they really do know their audience.  To help roll out COVID vaccines to younger people, they have launched a campaign on Snapchat outlining where vaccines can be gotten and information on why people should get the vaccine.  A statement from Snapchat said

Starting Wednesday, Snapchat users will be able to use an augmented reality lens that features President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Dr. Anthony Fauci and viral immunologist Kizzmekia Corbett answering questions about the vaccine.

The government has chosen Snapchat as their platform because they realise it is most likely, the information would be seen more frequently by their target audience.  90% of 13 -24 year old’s in America use Snapchat so it looks like they have done their research!

This information will be available on snapchat via their AR lenses. The lenses will give the impression that you’re on a video call with the President or Vice-President while they give you this information.  As long time readers will know, Socially is a big fan of using AR for businesses so we think this is a great way to give younger people information on what is a serious and important subject.
